A person must have a physical, emotional or
mental impairment that hinders him or her from
working to be eligible for vocational
rehabilitation services. He or she also must
require and be able to benefit from vocational
rehabilitation services that would lead to
gainful employment. SCVRD services are available
to all eligible SC residents with disabilities
except the blind, which are served by another
agency. After eligibility is established, the
client participates in an assessment to
determine the vocational rehabilitation services
need. The assessment may include career planning
to help determine the client’s potential for
employment, the kinds of jobs he or she is best
suited for, and the services required to help
that person achieve employment success.
