WorkKeys® is a national system, used by employers
worldwide, to identify workplace skills employees
need to be successful on the job and to determine
where additional training will help build a higher
performance workforce. The WorkKeys® system
determines an individual’s level of proficiency in a
given skill area and identifies pools of QUALIFIED
applicants who have achieved the levels of
proficiency needed to perform a job.
WHO MAY TAKE THE WORKKEYS®
ASSESSMENT?
Any one may take the assessment. To schedule an
appointment, contact the Assessment Administrator at
574-1800. Also, a computerized practice test is
available to the public at no charge. The practice
test may be taken at the TOSCC Resource Center
Monday –Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.

WHERE IS THE CAREER READINESS CERTIFICATE?
What the WorkKeys® skills assessments, individuals
can earn the WorkReady SC Career Readiness
Certificate. This certificate, signed by the South
Carolina Governor, proves to employers that the
certificate-bearer has the necessary basic skills to
work in their business by identifying strengths and
measuring workplace skills.
To earn the nationally recognized Career Readiness
Certificate, individuals must score at least a three
(3) on each of the following tests: Reading for
Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating
Information.
Based on scores, an individual can receive one of
three certificate levels:
BRONZE LEVEL
indicates a score of minimum 3 in all 3 areas and
represents the core employability skills for
approximately 30% of jobs.
SILVER LEVEL
indicates a score of minimum 4 in all 3 areas and
represents the core employability skills for
approximately 65% of jobs.
GOLD LEVEL,
the highest level, indicates a score of minimum 5 in
all 3 areas and represents core employability skills
for approximately 90% of jobs. By reviewing an
applicant’s Career Readiness Certificate, an
employer can determine whether that applicant has
the skills necessary to successfully accomplish the
tasks required to perform a job.

WHEN IS THE WORKKEYS®
ASSESSMENT OFFERED?
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday @ 8:30 am: Full
battery, which consists of all assessments offered
on Tuesday plus Teamwork, Observation, and Listening
and Writing skills assessments. The allowed time
for the assessments vary from 45 minutes to 1 hour
and 15 minutes.
Thursday @ 3:30 PM Applied Mathematics, Locating
Information, Applied Technology and Reading for
Information. Each section is 45 minutes long.
WHAT SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE ASSESSMENT?
Bring two #2 pencils, a
basic hand calculator and a
picture ID. Fees for testing will be collected
on the day of your test. Payment must be made by
cash of money order. Credit cards and personal
checks are not accepted.
WHEN AND HOW WILL CUSTOMERS GET THEIR WORKKEYS
RESULTS?
Results are mailed and should be received by the
customer between three to five days.
