The Trident Region's Best Choice for Workforce Development

Our Mission
The mission of The Trident One Stop Career System (TOSCS) is to provide the highest quality of workforce development services available to our customers.

To accomplish our mission, we’ve created and integrated an accountable workforce development system so that job seekers can find good jobs and employers can find qualified workers.  Ours is a region where the high quality of the workforce is a key asset in attracting and retaining business, and where the workforce is supported by a development system that is market-driven and user-friendly.  We provide employers with skilled workers through a collaboration of workforce development services offered by multiple partners in conveniently located one-stop career centers.  Our services are provided through funding from the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and the shared costs of our partners.

The Trident One Stop Career System (TOSCS) is comprised of one-stop centers in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.  The TOSCS offers a variety of services to help employers and job seekers meet their workforce development needs.  While many of our services are at no-cost to the user, a fee is charged for some of our more specialized services and, in some instances for the use of our facility.  The expert TOSCS staff can assist any business, large or small, with their workforce development needs.  We offer business and industry a powerful competitive advantage.  Because we collaborate with partners in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, we can eliminate or reduce the costs associated with recruiting new employees, screening, placement activities, training new and existing employees and testing.

History National: The idea for One-Stop Centers began around 1996 as an initiative proposed by the U.S. Department of Labor. Pilot programs started in various states to develop models that could be used by everyone. The goal was to bring together multiple agencies offering similar services into one co-located facility to jointly provide services. This was to improve customer service and quality to the general public and employers who use these services. At present the new Workforce Investment Act, that was recently passed into law mandates that each Service Delivery Area in every state throughout the nation establish and operate one full service, co-located One-Stop Center.

History Local: The Trident One-Stop Career Center is the Hub of the of the Trident One-Stop Career System and started as a vision of Trident Workforce Investment Board. The Trident Center was established in 1998 by the Trident Workforce Investment Board (TWIB) upon the recommendation of their Adhoc Committee and a community-wide task force formed to investigate the feasibility of a one-stop center. Since opening the Trident One-Stop Career Center, the Workforce Investment Board has opened satellite centers in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties to serve the Trident Region.
